Llego was born in 2002 in the Sandwash HMA in northwestern Colorado. Many of the horses from that area are descended from harness and draft horses turned out by the military when they were no longer needed. They usually show the stout size and calm personality inherited from early draft stock. Llego's beautiful coloring is called 'grullo' and it is one of the primitive colors with a dorsal stripe down his back and barring on his legs.
From the first week after Llego arrived, Corazon seemed drawn to his calm, quiet demeanor. After remaining somewhat distanced from the other herd members in spite of being their leader, it was immediately clear that Corazon had chosen a friend. Under the mentorship of Corazon, Llego is continuing to mature into a future leader. The two have developed such a deep pair bond that it is hard to imagine how devastating it would be for one if something were to happen to the other.

Even though they are rivals for Corazon's company, Llego and Griton can still enjoy a good play session with each other.
While Llego shares Corazon's love of peace, he is still a young horse with a strong desire for play. In the group, he is second only to Corazon and Griton and that is usually only apparent at feeding time. He moves away with respect from the first two, and in turn moves Besol and Valeroso.
Llego's nickname of 'Smootchie Junior' came from his very affectionate nature and his need to give you frequent nuzzles as a greeting.
